Bookcrossing Sngapore came about in 2004 when a campaign "Pass It On" started with National Library Bard (NLB), Singtel and Starbucks where readers picked a book from Starbucks Café, read it and passed it on to another Starbucks outlet.
The Bookcrossing concept had already been started by a book enthusiast named Ron Hornbaker only that it had yet to materialize. Two avid readers decided to make it happen!
In Feb 2004, Bookcrossing members held their first Bookcrossing meeting at the now demolished National Library at Stamford; Singapore’s oldest library. During that time, the true concept of Bookcrossing was shared amongst the pioneer members who attended the meetup then.
